Model Airfield

Paved runways, pit areas, and taxiways. Great bunch of guys, and good location. Sidewalk pits and taxiways newly repaved in concrete. Smooth as silk.

Nice facility. I visited 4x during my recent visit to Denver. Runways are very nice, paved, many flight stands, a couple of metal roofs that provide shade from the sun. Heli area isn't good, field of dirt, prairie dogs and tall weeds that faces the sun in the afternoon. I flew my heli in the heli area and over the runways. Most people were friendly and welcoming. I did run into one club member that arrived when I was there alone and before unloading anything or even saying hello was yelling at me for not using the heli area.

Also, the $9 park access is good for that day and until noon the next day. One day the ranger at the gate informed me of that, the other 3 days the ranger did not.

This is a very nice 400' foot asphalt runway for RC airplanes which is open to the public. The Denver RC Eagles are the club which operates from the field. But membership is not a requirement, AMA insurance coverage is however. The field location is ideal, up on a small rise in the land. But the brush around the field can swallow an airplane if you land far from the runway. Also, the venue is very popular, so crowded skies are always something you must be willing to work with. All skill levels and fixed wing and rotorcraft types are welcome.

There are some primitive toilets at the field but no running water so bring your sports bottle.
