  A great place to get fresh, high-quality meats and meat products among other things. The owner, Lothar Erbe, has a variety of cuts and particularly sausages packed and ready to go. BUT, when you ask, he can also get special things, such as German-style Schweinshaxe/Eisbein or Sauerbraten, for example. For special orders, please call at least a week in advance. Lothar is from Germany originally and learned butchery the right way: in an apprenticeship.

  Lothar is awesome. Very friendly. Always helpful. Great products. Try the thick cut bacon. The ribeyes are amazing.

  This is a Butchery the way it should be.
  
  I started buying from Lothar and June after I had some of their andouille sausage at a local brewery 6 years ago. It was so good I sought them out at the Purcellville Farmers Market, and I now get the majority of of my non poultry meat from Lothar and June at their E Main St location. He is a classic German butcher but absorbs tastes from other cultures and produces sausages with international flavors and traditions. If you can be an artist with meat then Lothar is one. I now buy most of my beef and pork there, and just bought my first lamb product. It is not just sausages there as their steaks, chops, roasts and other cuts are superb and are locally sourced. Their filet's, delmonico's and ribeyes are the best I have ever bought. The best aspect of shopping there has been to have the vendor-customer relationship change over time. June and Lothar are an eclectic and interesting couple whose company you come to enjoy. Finding a place where you enjoy going and get a great product is an increasingly rare privilege and is one of the benefits of buying local. Buying local from friends is even better.

  There are very few places in the US where you can purchase fresh meat products prepared in the traditional German style. But that's not all they have, fresh steak, eggs, potato salad and Sauerkraut, bacon... More things that I'm forgetting. And for the quality you're getting, the price is reasonable. If you're not already shopping here, you're missing out.
